Edo Funk exploded in Benin City in Nigeria at the end of the 1970s.


Christine Salem is a singer from La Réunion, backed by percussion, violin and electric guitar.

Antonis Antoniou is a Cypriot musician and member of Monsieur Doumani and Trio Tekke.

Balkan Taksim are the upcoming underground sound of Bucharest.

Lee Perry intones his words of wisdom over Spacewave’s grooves.

Uwe Banton is a Berlin-based reggae artist.

Half Pint is a Jamaican singer whose song gets the Manudigital treatment.


José Alberto is a Cuban sonero entitled El Ruiseñor, the Nightingale.

Hector Valentin is from Havana, previously a member of Orquesta Reve and Adalaberto Alvarez’s band.

Andrés Vargas Pinedo was a blind street musician in Lima whose style set the template for Amazonian music.

Jadsa is from Bahia and her debut, recorded in São Paulo, attracted some high profile guests.

Cellist and singer Dom La Nena is also Brazilian but resident in Paris.


Bobby Lee is described as a sonic cartographer, his guitar negotiating a unique aural landscape.

“La Ola Interior” chronicles the Spanish story of ambient music in the 1980s.

The South Pasifika Sound Project is Paul Agar’s production featuring Samoan and Maori musicians.
