Meridian Brothers, aka Eblis Alvarez, take cumbia to new heights of wonky psychedelia.

La Gallera Social Club are Venezuelan twins from Maracaibo, plying a global electro-folk.

The Minyo Crusaders and Frente Cumbiero display the fruits of their Tokyo-Bogota summit.

Harold Lopez-Nussa is a Cuban pianist with an energetic array of styles, based in Havana.


Lingo Seini’s album is a rare full-length recording of Hauka ritual music from Niger.

Sharhabil Ahmed is a Sudanese band leader with an intoxicating brew of local styles and Western pop.

The Habibi Funk label put together a Lebanese compilation to raise funds for support for the Beirut disaster.

Mehmet Polat is a Turkish oud player with guests on ney, kamancha, percussion and voice.


Percussionist John Santos is a veteran of the San Francisco Bay area Latin scene, and sideman to many.

The UK’s Charanga del Norte sports Kim Burton on Piano and Sue Miller on flute.

The “Aloha” album is a recreation of the classic era of Hawaiian music featuring Ken Emerson, Dean Parks and Jim Kimo West.

Bai Kamara is an acoustic blues artist from Sierra Leone, based in Belgium.

Klezmer-ish are escapees from the Liverpool Philharmonic playing klezmer, gypsy jazz and blues.

Kansas Smitty’s are a 7-piece jazz band from East London, led by Giacomo Smith.


Ye Vagabonds are the brothers Brian and Diarmuid MacGloinn from Carlow.

Cinder Well, aka Amelia Baker, is a US ex-pat in Clare emerging from lockdown.

Brigid Mae Power is London-born Galwegian on her third album.

Gillian Welch is deep in the soulful veins of American folk-roots.

Josh Kimbrough is a fingerstyle guitarist from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
