Ragazeer is one of the most compelling performers on this Frafra compilation from Northern Ghana.

uKanDanZ combine Ethiopian vocals with French power trio for maximum danceability.

The Brussels trio, Kel Assouf, play a hard-core Touareg grunge style.

Léo Leobons is a Brazilian percussionist and authority in Afro-Cuban folklore.

Californian and indigenous American, Cochemea is a saxophonist and longtime Dap-King.


Soul Bang’s is Souleymane Bangoura from Guinea Conakry.

The great voice of Mali, Salif Keita has released his farewell album.

M’Toro Chamou is based in France but originally from Mayotte in the Indian Ocean.

Moiizah are led by Madagascan Rivo Noarivelo and are resident in Norway.

Nubiyan Twist, from Leeds and London, play a funky global soul.


Two of the best known French Canadian bands are Le Vent Du Nord and De Temps Antan; the former were in Dublin in 2016, and the latter will be here in May this year.

Stick In The Wheel are English folk with a punkish attack.

Janusz Prusinowski is rootsman par excellence of Polish village music.

Belonoga springs from the Mystery of Bulgarian Voices and the Eva Quartet.

The Astrakan Project is a Breton excursion into Portuguese legend, decorated with magnificent illustrations.


Baton Bleu are a French duo combining earthy blues, celestial harmonies, worldwide instrumentation and downright eccentricity.

Kelly Thoma plays the music of Crete with Ross Daly on board and two renowned singers.

“Bahdja” sees Algerian violinist Kheiriddine Mkachiche paired with Belgian saxophonist Manuel Hermia.

Bill Frisell brings his trio to the National Concert Hall in NCH Perspectives series.
