New York's Antibalas celebrate 20 years of Afrobeat operations and take over the Sugar Club for 2 nights this weekend - Easter Saturday and Sunday.

“No Wahala” is the latest in Strut’s “Nigeria 70” series highlighting the funky best of Nigeria’s 70s and early 80s output.

Hama Sankaré was a sideman percussionist to the late Ali Farka Touré and has now released two albums in his own right.


Adir Jan sings of gay love and passion in a context of Kurdish rock and dance.

The Minyo Crusaders are a Japanese band doing an irresistible line in latin and reggae grooves.

Fémina are a female Argentinian trio, produced by Quantic.

Tiken Jah Fakoly is a veteran of African reggae, from Côte d’Ivoire.

The veteran Jamaican Inna de Yard collective remake some classic reggae hits of yesteryear.


Söndörgö is a virtuoso, largely family, collective from Hungary with a sound built around the tambura string instrument.

Duo Botasso are brothers on violin and diatonic accordion with electronics at play.

Olcay Bayir is a classically trained singer from Anatolia, based in London.

Janusz Prusinowski is a leader in Polish tradition, learning from the old masters.

Equus are an Australian band with connections to Mongolia.


Waed Bouhassoun is a Syrian oud-player and singer.

Paul Goodman is a Dubliner steeped in Cretan music, an associate of Ross Daly.

Terry Riley is a pioneer of minimalism, intersecting it with jazz and Indian music - in the Sugar Club next week.

Kolida Babo is a trio involving two Greek duduk players who add sax and synths to the mix.

Labelle is an electronic musician from La Réunion.
