Newen Afrobeat are Chileans, with a top-level guest-list on their Fela tribute.

The Mekons are veteran punk-rockers with folk and country elements too.

Ifriqiyya Electrique take the Banga ceremonies from southern Tunisia and transform them into “post-industrial ritual”.

The Brussels-based trio, Kel Assouf, play a hard-core Tamashek rock.


Umut Adan’s Turkish psychedelia draws on ’60s Anatolian rock.

The Astrakan Project is a Breton excursion into Portuguese historical legend, with magnificent illustrations.

Refugees for Refugees is a Brussels group of musicians from Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tibet.

Kronos Quartet collaborate with the Iranian Vahdat sisters.

Azerbaijani vocal master, Ali Qasimov, joins forces with French bassist and serpent player, Michel Godard.


Eumir Deodato made some rare groove classics in the ’70s in Rio and New York, now re-released on vinyl.

Four black women with banjos and a powerful message of triumph over adversity - songs of the US native daughters.

Bâton Bleu are a French duo playing a raw folk-blues with multicultural instrumentation.

Coskun Karademir is a prominent baglama player in the Anatolian tradition.
